Hello all 2nd time linux user ...first time wasn't so successful

Hello everyone I would like to install Linux on my pc. First question is what would be a good distro for a begginer Linux user. Second question I have a D-link Dwl-G132 wireless USB adapter the first time I tryed to install Ubuntu I couldnt get it to work so I had to go back to windows so what would i have to do to get it to work in that distro as well because I cant exist without internet and hard wired really isn't an option. Thanks to anyone that took the time to read

As far as your wireless adapter goes, it's difficult to say without knowing what kind of chipset it uses. Perhaps boot from the Ubuntu live CD, run "sudo lsusb" in a terminal (without quotes) and post the output here.

How long ago did you try? Distros have come a long way regarding wireless in the past couple of years. OpenSuSE 10.3 didn't fully support my laptop's wireless, but 11.0 worked right out of the box, and they're not that far apart.

I'd go with what Nylex said, but be sure to get the most current version you can first.

If you look here:
http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_p...andname=D-Link

It suggests that the wireless card is not supported natively, but not to worry:

It says here:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...3/id,list_c-f/

That the card is supported by ndiswrapper. There are some links on that page, follow the right one for your card and you may be able to get your card working.
