i got this linux computer a week ago, and i'm missing files.they where packed but i don't know where they are.help!!!!

Explain what the problem is, please. What does "packed" mean? Which files are missing? Which distribution?

Also, in future, please use descriptive thread titles (ones that say something about the question/problem you have), as you're told to when posting here at LQ.

no.
lot of important files are misssing.and i think someone before me tried to packed them but he didn't finish.

devcan123, you must know where your files are and how did they get there.
Where were they packed? Who did pack 'em?

Did you have a problem with the machine? A hard drive issue, perhaps? What happened just before the files went missing?

Use the package management system? Maybe it would be better to reinstall. Again, can you tell us what exactly is missing please?

I tried as a superuser but it said that there's no version.but it still exist in the database.
