hdparm > not enough memory ?

I've been using RedHat for a couple of months. I cannot remember the last time I ran the command hdparm but I know for sure there wasnt any problem. I did hdparm -tT /dev/hda again yesterday and was prompted with an error saying there wasnt enough memory to complete the process (?). I just dont understand. I did nothing to the system, except the removal of some rpms such as desktop-printing and the like. What is causing the problem ? I get tremendously low readings on hdparm now.

Thanx

Try that again while running top simultaneously. Look for anything unusual. Also, what does the output of hdparm -v /dev/hda look like?

hi, thanx for the reply. I guess I'll reinstall linux. It may not be relevant but for some reasons, I have a feeling Xfree and gnome are the two applications that slow my laptop down to a crawl. Anyway, i'm reinstalling linux with blackbox as wm. C ya.

OK then. Good luck.
