hdparm inop now?
I was following instructions tuning my hard drive using hdparm on RH 8.0 to tweak performance and now the hdparm command will only give me "input/output error" after I ran the command:
hdparm -X66 -u1 -m16 -c3 /dev/hda The system did not hang, but performance on the drive was slowed to a crawl when I checked: hdparm -t -T /dev/hda so I rebooted the system to reset it, and now the only thing I get from hdparm, in any form is "input/output error" In addition, hdparm man pages now cannot be found, where before I could access them. Any ideas? X seems to run fine, and the system seems to run okay still. My system: ASUS A7N266-VM AMD XP 1700+ WD 136 AA 512 Meg memory dual boot with WinDoze 98 |
