hdparm and modprobe not running as root

Hi Community,
I have been trying to capture video in Linux for which I've already installed Kino and all other dependencies. But I dont know how to start capturing video. I've started kino but it says I've not loaded raw1394 module. So I read up on it (http://users.dslextreme.com/~craig.l...mporting_Video) and found out that i've load either one of this:
raw1394, dv1394, ieee1394 or ohci1394

now I know i've to load either one of the module. The real problem starts now, i've tried to use(as root) hdparm to see if DMA is enabled but it gives following message
"bash: hdparm: command no found".

I also tried to see if any of the above modules are loaded using modprobe but it gives the same message as hdparm.

Does anyone have an idea as to how to make it work for me.
Thanks in advance.

When you run programs as su, /sbin and /usr/sbin are not in your path. You can type "/sbin/modprobe" (without the quotes) and modprobe will run.

On my machine, modprobe is in /sbin, and hdparm is in /usr/sbin.

Rather than simply using su, try
Code:
su -
which should add these directories to your path
