HDD SATA problems : failed command : READ DMA
 

I had this problem as you can see above. I used a
systemrescuecd ISO i typed in DIR into the terminal and I can see files and stuff. I want to copy my files onto another HD so I need some Linux commands for this. is there any?

It depends what files? If it's everything, try a cloning partition program and just have it copy not the partition, but just the files. Or rather tell it to make an iso of all the files and wherever you need to put them, open the iso there.

sure that would work if i was actually able to see the drive and the files, but my thing is that I'm using that systemrescuecd for Linux and all I get is the terminal. and that basically makes into kind of a live Linux CD, and what I need really is a command line that tells it to copy to another drive. Sorta like a windows command line,
c:/copy. like the old dos way. isn't there away to do this in terminal?

Actually that's an excellent CD to use! I'm assuming you get to where it first says BOOT: right? So then hit Enter.it then detectsall your hardware and I am assuming you get to where it just leaves you with a commandline? When it gets there, just type

startx

And does it give you a graphical screen? It should. And then look through there. There are many helpful tools, either graphical.or text but try that and report back here, okay?
