hdd recovery program that let you choose which data to getback?

Hello

I am permitting to start a new thread since the topic is a bit different.

PHOTOREC automatically recover all files to the harddisk target. Is there any program like in windows, that scan the "dead" harddisk and make in the ram or wherever a headers temporally and give you a window:

select the files you wanna recover and destination, and it does the job.
(the problem is for persons that have to put data here, there, and ... other places because of hdd size limitations)

Thank you

Yes there are some damn good ones for NTFS file systems used within Windows, make it so easy, it's a crying shame when you're good with dd and the Fat file system using the photorec.log. Kinda makes a person feel guilty for charging so much.

I'm afraid I'm not aware of any thing for Linux. However, you could take it in steps as Photorec allows specifying the type of files you're after. So you could recover pictures first, then music files, then text files, etc. without needing the space to recover all of those at once.
