HDD and cd drive problem

im using FC3.

whenever i boot it automatically starts file system integrity check...
and says "cant read block... journal aborted..".sometimes it repairs itself and sometimes asks to run fsck manually..

also im unable to mount any disc in my cddrive...it says "no medium found"...however im able to eject and load using the commands...

what could be the possible cause and solution?

Are you sure that your CD-Drive is working properly?

Is it possible your hard drive could be going bad? I'd use the software supplied with the hard drive (or available from the manufacturer's web site) to rule out a bad sector problem, etc. If the hardware is OK, at least you know it's a software or configuration problem.

I have the same problem with any drive I hook up to my computer. Its not a constant thing though...

My FS is EXT2. For some reason, it wont automatically scan the drive, it makes me do it maually and then reboot.

Once in awhile I get an error saying "Device HDA not ready to be read"

It would be nice to know what is causing it.
