hdc wont mount


Hey all,

I am running gentoo 2004.3 on my ibm x31. I am trying to mount the cd rw drive, but am not having any luck. DMESG says I the cd drive is hdc but when I try i get - mount: special device /dev/hdc does not exist

Any ideas?

try typing this in:

mknod /dev/hdc b 22 0

thanks; however, i get the following error now:

mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device
