Having Trouble To Open Fedora 8 After Upgrading The Kernel
Dear FRIEND recently I installed linux - fedora 8 in my system. And after installing fedora every time It's wanted to upgrade the OS, so I chose to upgrade, but after upgrading the components, it does not allow me to go to my GUI mode. after booting it shows that your X- server output has changed do you want to repair it? I said yes and enter into root, but it has no value. It was in the same condition as it was earlier.
I type alt+ctrl+F3, alt+ctrl+F5 even alt+ctrl+F7. but ......... I am helpless, I can't use my system now, what could I do? I have Nvidia 8600GT video drivers preinstalled. what should I do now? Can I cure it? please help. please deb1bhu thanks |
If you installed a new kernel (or a new version of X.org) you will need to rebuild the NVidia drivers to have a fully functional graphics controller again. In the meantime you can use the "vesa" driver even though you will have fairly poor screen resolution/color and no graphics acceleration.

one thing I also want to tell you that every kernel updates comes with a newer version of fedora and that's disgusting when I see I have 3 OS in my bootloader(I 've windows and fedora 8). Is there any solution of this? why updates the kernel in different format? |
