Smile Having trouble installing thinstation on HP thin client

I am having trouble loading thinstation on a hp t5550 thin client that is running windows ce. When i try to boot the distribution (which the image is mounted) the thin client tells me that I do not have enough ram. However thinstation only needs 16mbs to install and the thin client has 896mbs to spare. Any help?

Hello and welcome to LQ.
This question should be on it's own.
I'll ask that the newbie mod move this.

Do you have examples on how to install thinstation to this exact model?

Hi,

You mention that you have the image mounted. Which image? The build environment, or the resultant image?

It will be helpful to know what path you followed and what machine type selections you made as you built your release. Or even if these are steps which you took to get to this point.

Can you better describe the steps you've taken to get to this point?

Ok, so I installed linux tiny core onto a t5550 hp thin client. I need to get remote desktop installed. So rdesktop or freerdp. I downloaded both of them, but when I go to execute either program, nothing happens. When I use command line, none of the commands work, like the dir command. I don't know if I need to install any packages before I continue? Any help would be great.

Try 'ls /bin', and 'pwd'. Do you have a shell prompt? Also try 'sh'. Then try your commands. Not every distro has the dir command.

Your original question was about installing ThinStation onto this computer. ThinStation is an actual Linux distribution.

Your update indicates that you successfully installed Linux TinyCore, but then you discuss using a "dir" command which is not a typicaly Linux command. More normal for that would be "ls".

Are you actually running TinyCore when you issue this "dir" command?

You need to be more clear as to exactly what you've done and tried. Just telling us you downloaded some software and that you can't run it doesn't give enough information.

Post UPDATE

Sorry that my descriptions have been a little vague. So most of the linux commands work I've tried worked. I was just a little flustered at that moment. I successfully installed TinyCore on the thin client. I was trying to install ThinStation, however the thin client kept giving me an error message saying I didn't have enough RAM. ThinStation should have been small enough, however, do to my limited resources I can't really fix that. So I installed TinyCore instead. So far I have managed to install Rdesktop onto TinyCore and I am also able to ping both my laptop and thin client respectfully. When I run Rdesktop, I use "Sudo Rdesktop (laptop ip address), but I keep getting an error telling me the "connection reset by peer".

Is there something I need to enable on the thin client? Or maybe something I need to enable on my laptop?

Again, I apologize for any confusion or vague descriptions. This is my first time installing TinyCore on a t5550 hp thin client.
