Unhappy Having trouble emptying the Trash in Redhat 9, Gnome

When trying to empty the trash in Redhat 9 I get the following error:

Error while deleting.
"/home/use...rt_affline.o" cannon be deleted because you do not have permission to modify its parent folder.

It gives two options: Cancel or Skip. If I press skip, more of the same message come up referring to differnet files.

What can I do about this? I assume I could logon to gnome as root but that's a bit long-winded.

in console as root, goto your trash directory and type

rm -fr *
rm -fr .*

that will clear everything out, its just the easiest solution to your problem

Cool. That got rid of them... but how do you think they get there to start with?
