having trouble configuring x
I just recently installed Red Hat 6.0 on my computer and I'm now trying to configure X. When I run Xconfigurator, I try clicking on my sound card's name in the list and it comes up with an error that says "server not found". So I try just puting "Unlisted Card" in. Then I go through the rest of it and when I get through and try to run startx, it comes up with an error that says no card found. I took out my card to make sure I had the correct name, and I did. I can't figure out why I'm having troubles with it.
Another thing is I'm having trouble mounting my cdrom. I haven't tried the floppy yet... If anyone can be of some help I would greatly appreciate it. Ash |
you can try configing X by executing 'XFree86 -configure' ... X will then try to auto config itself. Just a suggestion.

I tried that and the command doesn't work. ...I'm losing hope lol. Even If I wanted to put slackware on instead, first of all I don't have a book on it and second I can't mount my cdrom

RedHat gurus; any suggestions on the best RedHat way to configure X? |
