Having trouble booting from disc

I downloaded Mandriva 2007 and put the files on a DVD, but the disc will not boot. Do I have to do anything to the files? Any response will be very appreciated.

It'd be better to describe how you did it- I know when I first tried to install linux I actually extracted the .iso onto a disc (I know, I know). Did you burn the ISO straight to disc? Another solution would be to make sure your computer boots from the disc drive first, or to try a program especially made for ISO burning, such as ISOBurner.

Two thoughts:

1. When you burn, you must burn it as a disk image, not as a regular filee
2. Make sure that youf CD drive is listed as the first boot option in your BIOS boot sequence
