Angry having to login every time computer takes nap

I dont know if there is a way to fix this, but I find it very annoying to have to log in every time I step away from the computer to do something and the computer takes a nap. Gotta be a way to fix it. Its just me and my wife living in this house so I dont see it as a security issue. Another problem I have encountered is, every time I come to forums, i enter my user name and password and it goes bonkers and I have to do it multiple times, even though I tell it to 'save password or whatever....
Linux mint 13 cinnamon maya is an awesome distro, but there are some things that I have never encountered on Win xp, having to log in every time it goes to nappy land, or when I go to a website that I have saved info and password on to go crazy and forget it every time.....must be some way to fix both issues....gonna have to buy a book on this..

Use the control panel for Mint and set the screensaver not to lock the screen.
