Having problems with KDM

Hey guys,

I'm new to Linux so bare with me please. I'm wanting to use the KDM account manager but when I go to the login manager inside the control center, it wont let me edit anything unless i go in admin mode, even then it dosent work, just reverts back to the original. I even looked for the kdm folder wich should be located in ~/.kde/share/apps/kdm but its not there.

Now dont get me wrong, it has to be there because it prompts me for a username and password before logging in. I was just wanting to load more themes or change the background but apparently I dont have a clue what to do. I did some searching but google didnt come through for me as well as other forums. Mabey I need things explained to me in noob terms? I'm trying to learn Linux but only have been at it a week. Thanks for reading.

Distro: Suse 10

You can only install kdm themes and change the background as root from the administration section in kcontrol. Install an app called kdmtheme and use that to install the themes from the tarballs you download.
