Question Have probelems running red hat linux 9

I installed red hat linux 9 pretty smoothly, but whenever I try to run it (it does get past the GRUB bootloader), it stops and prints "Kernel Panic : Attempted to kill init". If anyone could tell me what the problem is, that would be great.

Need to know the details about the Kernel Panic. I can be many things.

If you are new to linux and nothing to lose then you may wish to get the newer release of the redhat clone like Fedora Core 5. Redhat 9 is about 3 or more years old. The next releases that were open is called Fedora Core. You will get more modern kernel going from 2.4 kernel to 2.6 kernels. Better hardware detection and more uptodate programs ready to go.
