Have a series of questions! Need Information Please
 

Hello, I am kinda new to Linux. I am currently attending college for networking security, and have had a few linux classes and am very interested in learning more about it.

However today I was given a project due next monday evening. This project consisted on the following tasks.

Hack a Linksys WRT300n Router, Using Only WiFi.
Take control of Admin.
And shut other users out.

It's a 5 v 5 competition....

Well our group decided to use linux to secure our router, and also use it to hack theirs.

My questions are as followed...Is there ways to backdoor or hack into there router config files using linux? Without knowing there admin user and password? If so, how would be go about doing so? I am bacially wanting a small tutorial to help poke us in the right direction. I looked into something, Called " AirCrack" Which from what i've heard is kinda like an add-on of Linux used to gather bits of WiFi data.

Also the group we are facing is loaded full of pompus jerks, we would like to figure out how to display a message on their 5 screens just before we take over their router and achieve victory :) ...I have read something like "Net send" but that's for windows and couldn't really find in great detail anything for linux, Although the 5 we face stand strongly behind windows.... Any information at this point would be GREATLY appreciated...

You should read the LQ Rules before posting. There are a couple in particular:
We can help you with securing linux, and I'd suggest a search on this site in securing your router, ssh, etc. The first part of your assignment we can't help you with. Are you required to use WEP for the assignment? AFAIK, if you select a random psk and use the ccmp cipher it isn't so easy to crack. The other team could do the same. So you have your research cut out for you.

There's so much information available via 'Google' on this very subject!

I know that a simple search key 'FBI computer WEP/WPA' would get enough information to read for each of your team members. :)
