hardly any room on a 552.6 GB hard drive!

I tried to install Linux Cinnamon 20.2 from a USB Flash.Message pops up only 424mb on my hard drive.

System info shows hard drive 552.6 GB that should be more than enough?

I have Linux Cinnamon 18.1 64 bit currently on my laptop.

With that much hard drive how can I be down to 424 mb trying to install Linux cinnamon 20.2?

Also, tried again and the install gets stuck on the 'trying to get the time from a network', probably looking for a wifi connection but I use hot spot.

When the 20.2 version has been installed, does it delete the 18,1 version? I probably didn't get far enough into the installation since another two or three messages popped up as well so I stuck with 18.1 version for now.

Please show output from the following for your 552.6GB HDD:
Code:

sudo parted -l
sudo blkid
df

Whether the old version will be "deleted" depends on how you answer various questions the installation process presents.

^^^ this ... will help to determine where your data is being used.

Your previous version is likely taking up all the disk, if upgrading make sure it allows using you present /home in the new install, but you should really have a backup of all your personal data on external media, so that it can be reinstalled in an emergency.

Hi thanks all!

I rebooted the laptop and checked how the hard drive GB was being used. It showed almost equally for 18.2 and 20.2. So erased everything and re-installed 20.2 and its working great!
