Smile Harddrive problems


Hi all nice to be here as a noob yet again lol

Ive installed ubuntu but my second harddrives not showing up!
Ive got my boot harddrive showing up as /dev/sdb1

and the other harddrive showing up as dev/sdc1

but its not showing up in the home directory or if it is how and where do i look?

thanks !

Hi

So, if you "su - root" or "sudo su - root" and...
1) do a "mount | grep -i sdc1" do you see the drive mounted somewhere?
2) if not, if you do a "mount -v -o noatime /dev/sdc1 /mnt/<any_empty_directory>" does it work?

Hi Pearl

no none of these commands work says only root can do that!

says can't find /dev/sdc1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

Im sure this is a ntfs formated harddrive! but dont know how to format in linux ive tried fdisk -l but says i need to use GNU parted but i do not know how to use this! it also says warning GPT (GUID Partition table) detected on /dev/sdc

You have to "su" or "sudo su" to the "root" user.

Ok, GPT - then your drive is probably very large like 2, 3 or 4TB, and/or you have an EFI bios, right?
Sorry, I have no experience with GPT nor EFI-stuff => I leave this thread.
