thanks everyone, i guess i should give a try to Slackware and start from Linux commands as a starting point :)

nah, slackware is a pointless ghetto, a fair bit of what you learn will be of no use to you. pick a debian (inc ubuntu or mint) or redhat based distro (fedora) at the very least.

It could look that I've praised someone for using Linux while I myself use Windows, so I meant this situation, and not any technical aspect of using Wine. Thanks for your answer :-)

You can learn a lot by using Slackware. Look at: Get Slackware Linux & the other sections at SlackwareŽ-Links. You will find enough information to keep you busy for a while. :)

Read William Shotts book at www.linuxcommand.org. It will take you from the ground up into deep scripting if you want to go that far. I've always recommended this book in comparison to the other tutorials out there as it starts with the fundamentals and explains things like the file system hierarchy etc..
