Hard drive with Linux causes display flickering - cannot read display

I down loaded Ubuntu 9.04 onto a hard drive, but now I need to use that hard drive in another computer. When I put the hard drive in the 2nd computer it causes the display to flicker so much that it cannot be read.

The computer I want to use the hard drive in is a: Gateway E series. Please help.

So pretty much what you are telling me is you took a hard drive out of one computer, then put it into another, and booted it? This will never work! Unless both computers are EXACTLY the same, including same CPU, same architecture, etc, this will not work. Choose one computer you want the hard drive to be installed in, reformat it, and reinstall linux.
