hard drive usage question

When I do 'df -h' it says i'm using 5.5 gigs, yet when i right click in konquerer on / then properties, then calculate [size], it only shows 4.9 gigs (subtracting /mnt and /proc) and I was curious why this is. Not really a problem (at least i don't think so), just curious.

Thanks.

I'll put money on this answer.
One counts a megabyte as 1000 kilobytes and the other counts 1024 kilobytes as 1MB

I thought that too at first. btw, I made a mistake, konquerer shows 4.8 gigs (again subtracting /proc and /mnt). i did the calculations and 4.8 x 1024 x 1024 x1024 doesn't equal ~5,500,000,000 but rather ~5,100,000,000. I'm curious if this is the situation for anybody else too.

Drive usage

Hello!

Perhaps df is counting the entire i-nodes that being used (1024), but Konquerer is counting the actual used space on the harddrive by the files. The files are a bit smaller and are not taking up the entire space of the i-nodes.

Later,
Mords
