Hard Drive Install
im installing redhat 9 on a pc with no OS, all I have is a hd with 3 .iso images to do the install. I have downloaded a redhat installation boot and choose to install from hd when I point to the images i get this error?
no red hat images found on hd1/dev5? can someone tell me why this is happening or a way to install an iso image thanks |
Are you using the correct partition?
Are the files in a directory or just in d:\? If in a directory provide the complete path. BTW the install can not read from a NTFS drive. |
i only have 2500mb partition formatted and thats what they are on....it a 10gig drive

sinnamingrrl; ur error message states no image of rh found on hd , so there maybe something missing; those iso may have to be copied on to partition along with lilo/or grub but not both. 1st
from boot floppy/cd then copy iso to hd in partition after bootlilo/grub. ? can u read the iso running without install to view the howto docs for help. |
You will not be able to read the iso from an NTFS partition. Hard drive installations only work from ext2, ext3, or FAT file systems. Take a look at the Installing from a Hard Drive section from the Red Hat 9 installation guide. The way you specified the partition that your iso's are on is also suspect. Your partition should read something like /dev/hda# (if you have IDE drives) where # is the number of the partition. For example, /dev/hda1 would be the first partition on hard drive a, the first hard drive. The hd1/dev specification will not make sense to Linux.
