I'm not worried about further damage at this point. Only trying to see if I can repair by myself. Again, I really appreciate the help here. I know this is kinda annoying for you guys. I'm a Linux Newb and not proud of that.

I can boot the original hard drive to the grub menu. Haven't tried going to a lower level but I can. What should my next step be?

You can check for bad blocks.

Code:
badblocks -v /dev/sda3
Mint might not stress the computer as running its exercise program. You can also test the memory using memtest86. It is a standalone program that will need to run from a different USB drive.

So.... after multiple attempts at repairing the disk, I think I am at a dead end. The rest of the computer seems to work fine. But when I try to run the Expresso software I get to the main screen and soon after, it just locks up. I am thinking that maybe that software has gotten corrupted and will need to be replace/re-installed.

Thanks for the lessons....
