Hard Disk Corrupted
I was having linux os with data on one of my hard disk. Something went wrong and it is now showing me inconsistent file syste when I try to boot it tells me to run fsck.
To be on the safer side so that I do not loose my data I installed the linux os on another Hard disk. Now I want to make this corrupted Hard Disk a slave and mount it and then copy the data from it to the new Hard disk. I want to know how can I do it because when I attach the corrupted Hard Disk and boot the system It only shows me the boot partition of the coruppted Hard Disk. Is there another safer way to recover my data. Thanks for the help in advance. |
It looks like a corrupted filesystem, not a corrupted disk. Probably an fsck is ok, the corrupted files will be deleted, the others will be available again. But you can also mount this filesystem as readonly device and copy what you see onto another storage.

linux live cd or usb is the answer
use Linux live CD or live USB........
1. download puppy Linux latest version ISO image 2. burn to cd and boot ur computer with it. now hopefully u will b able to get urdata back. u can also make live USB. for it download unetbootin. run it point to ISO image and blank USB and create. boot ur computer wth USB |
I agree that almost any live cd would be a way to get your data off. Might be able to run a filesystem check too.
