hang after 1st time wizard

When installing Mandrake 9.1 all goes well until the using the "First Time Wizard". I choose KDE graphics, set up mail etc., but after that the install hangs. A blue screen comes up with 2 "waves" graphics showing, the hard-dive works for a while and then stops. Eventually the entire computer will lock-up and not respond. Ctrl +Alt+Fn, or even the power button won't restart the computer. I have to remove the power cable to reboot.

P3, 128mg RAM, 13 GB hard-drive
Linux only installed
Mandrake 9.1 (ISO's were checksummed)

Thanks for your help!
