(habd up) im an idiot! accidently downloaded iso SRPM's, can i install ?
 

Yep, im an idiot, im 50% the way through downloading
fedory, but, thanX to the unpredicatable nature of KDE's clipper

(you copy one thing, it pasts anouther!)

ive doenloaded the SRPM disk 1 iso...
is it possible to install FEDORA using the SRPM's iso ?

im not sure if the disk is just a load or srpm's or wether
i can boot from this srpm disk, and have it compile and install FEDORA core one...

any1 ?
if i can, this will save me 15 hours download time. thankyou.

I believe so, you just have to burn it on a disk, but you have to configure it as a disk at once disk, not just a cd image. I installed Redhat 9 that way.

yes, i am familiar with burning iso images onto CD's but when i installed redhat, i downloaded the binary iso's

so.. since im going to be compiling AND installing a whole linux OS, how long will an install take ?

how long did it take you, and what is you processor type and speed ?

lol, you are way luckier than me, I have been downloading almost a week to find a good distribution, wasted on disk on Mandrake 9.2, downloaded dragon linux, redhat(never used) and now I am downloading SlackWare
which has taken at least 5 hours and it is about 150 mb away from done

Quij, this may be a bit of an odd question (I'd
hate to be the bearer of bad news), but:

to install from a source RPM you'd need a running
Linux? Like in kernel, compiler and RPM already
working?

I don't think it'll do you any good (hope there's
fedora users who know better than me)?

I have Redhat 9 installed.......
can i use that as my compiler...

i know i need Linux to install for example program zxy from srpm...
but i though that MAYBE the rspm install sio's would be bootable, and have a compiled compiler on them, and compile and installl the rpm's ????

if RPM and the X server can run of an install disk, then why not GCC ???

Heh ... I don't know. Good luck with it. The last
source RPM CD's I had weren't bootable.

you say you install linux from the SRPM install disk......
did you just do the usual format, then boot from disk one ?
or was there an added step ????

ive searched google, and found a few people who install there distro's from the SRPM iso image, but they never go on to say wether its a insertd disk 1 at boot, or anything more complicated.

and redhat site does not say wether the srpms are botable....

im gonna have to cut my losses and start again. 90 hours to go :(
