Welcome to LQ!!

A quick Google suggests that there are different usages for the GUID. Please give context for your question (reference one of the web articles as appropriate.)

What kind of system??? GPS, maybe?

If you have a special-purpose computer with proprietary SW, then perhaps they have protected the harddisk to prevent users from getting into the SW. If that is the situation, then LQ cannot help you get around the protection.
