GUI Login Prompt never appears

Hi all, I'm fresh into the Linux world, have wanted to try it for years and have finally had the extra hardware to be able to pull it off. Anyways, things were going great, installed Fedora 9 and was checking it al out, until my current problem in which I'm on here about. Whenever I log in, I'm in level 5, except the GUI doesn't ever prompt me for a login, it just sits there with the splash screen. I can still ctrl+alt+f* and am able to log in under root or any of the users, but the GUI won't let me log in whatsoever. I feel as if I'm missing something really stupid and hate to bother you guys, I'd just like to not have to reinstall in order to fix the problem.

Not being a Fedora user (or fan), the issue is likely to be something to do with your xorg.conf file located in /etc/.

Drop to a shell, log in as root. Do:

X --configure
X --config /root/
Check to see if that works, if so, move it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot.

Thanks for the help arkane, sadly it didn't help me. But after searching through the ISPConfig forums I ended up finding the answer (wish I would have mentioned that I installed in it the post, my bad). Seems that during it's installation ISPConfig installs a line in /etc/shells that pretty much corrupts Fedora's GUI, so I commented it out and now everything is fine.

The exact details can be found here.
