Talking GUI for editing Gnome menu(s) ?

Hi

Used linux (debian) and KDE for half a year, Gnome for 24 hours.

In Gnome, is there a way to edit menus similar to KDE ? Or am I "stuck" with editing text files ?

Also, tried installing debian package "menu" (worked in KDE) to see those programs in the menu Gnome didn't show, but the debian menu didn't show either

And, is there a way to update the Gnome menus from the desktop or commandline ?

Thanks !

So... sometimes posting here is the solution to finally get google report what I'm looking for.

Seems I could install gconf-editor , but I don't find that sufficient.

However : Rumour has it that gnome 2.12 will fix my problem !

Anyone have any experience regarding the stability of gnome 2.12 (experimental debian) ?

GUI: smeg

-edit-n
now I see you use Debian, and I remember Debian not having smeg for some reason. However I google tells me about something called Alacarte... Maybe you should give it a try?

If that don't suit your needs you should edit menu-files manually...

I remember Debian having seperate directories for the Debian-menu and the Gnome-menu... very confusing... Don't know why...

Thanks for the reply !

I didn't see that one in Google before, but "alacarte" is not in debian stable/unstable/testing... (yet?)

Will keep looking

EDIT :: just saw a screenshot of alacarte here : http://www.realistanew.com/images/al...acarte-0.8.png - seems nice !
