Angry GUI Config

I am not new to Linux..... Me and Linux go a long way back, but me and Linux GUI Do Not ! I just got a new linux sys and installed, but I want to use the GUI, because that y i bought it. I bought it to use the GUI because i saw that intriguing......

The real problem, which i can't seem to fix is in the configuring step... Once I pick a monitor, the thing freezes , and refuses to start in XWindows .... IT says my monitor is wrong, but It also won't let me reconfig either..... Is there a Special way to reconfig the XWindows system from the Text prompts? Please email me the command if there is.

If there isn't I'm going back to my old friend Linux without the GUI.

xf86config should be available on all systems with X
XF86Setup might also exist.
A Red Hat or Mandrake system will probably have Xconfigurator

(case sensitive and I might have got the second one slightly wrong)
