gsmctl - What Library does that command belong to?

Hi,

I am new to Linux. I have installed Redhat Linux on my Laptop.
I connected a GSM Modem to my laptop but I don't know how to configure it. I'm not able to interface with the GSM modem. How can I know whether the modem is connected or not? What interface is needed for talking with that modem from linux terminal?

I found out from Internet that gsmctl command can be used for configuring a GSM Modem in linux but I don't know in which library that command exists. Because each time i type the gsmctl command it displays the message "command not found"

It would be really helpful if someone could tell me how to configure a GSM Modem with Linux.

Thanks for all your help in advance

Cheers!!

It seems to be part of "gsmlib" Here:

http://freshmeat.net/projects/gsmlib

Try the documentation. I don't use GSM, so I can't really help you from personal experience.

I can find "gsmlib" for RH EL3 here
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3
so may be there exists an rpm package for your Redhat too.
