grub won't boot anymore....
hey y'all
well, i was trying to install a new kernel (2.4.21) and everything seemed to be going fine except when i rebooted, grub didn't load anymore. so i tried putting everything back to the way it was but it still won't work anymore. when i try to boot ( red hat and grub in the second partition, windows in the mbr) i don't even get the red hat picture - instead it just says Lil- (it seems rather ominous). my grub.conf looks like this:
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,1)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.7-10)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.7-10 ro root=/dev/hda2
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.7-10.img
i think that is exactly how it used to be. and everything is in its right directory. and i even got rid of all the new kernel stuff. but it still won't boot.... except from the boot disk. i did notice that the initrd file on my boot disk is a different size then the one in /boot
is that significant in any way? any suggestions?
hope lots of people out there are a lot more knowledgable than me....
