Question GRUB Read Error

Am completely new to all this stuff, so I'm really sorry if this seems a really stupid question....

I'm building a Pentium II from scratch using some reclaimed parts. The bare bones came without any operating system or anything.

Looking at the horrific prices of Microsoft operating systems, and getting some good reviews from some of my colleagues, I decided to go for a Linux operating system (ArkLinux to be precise).

The boot CD installation was really easy, but when I came to reboot the machine without the boot CD, I just get "GRUB Read Error" after the diagnostics screen, and everything just seems to stop.

What should I do?

To install GRUB, seems is:
find/boot/grub/stage, find grub's stage, normally is hd0,0,
/etc/grub>root hd0,0
grub>setup hd0
grub-install
But I am not sure about this, sorry.
