Everytime I bootup I get an "GRUB Read Error"
GRUB is installed on my /hda
where as the Red Hat 9 OS is installed on external drive connected by a USB 2.0 (/sda)
Besides the fact that GRUB isnt working ..
I get another (ahhh!!) problem when I boot linux from the boot disk (nothing wrongs with the disk). When I boot linux (Red Hat) it says:
"Red Hat nash version 3.4.42 starting
Loading jbd.o module
ounting /proc filesystem
Creating block device
Mounting root filesystem
mount: error 6 mounting ext3
pivotroor"pivot_root (/sysroot, /sysroot, /initrd) failed :2
umount /initrd/proc failed: 2
Freeing unused kernel memory 132k freed
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init = option to kernel ."
Then I get a continuous blinking underscore and nothing happens
I tried reinstalling Red Hat multiple times but I continue to get the same error. I think the problem may lie in the fact that I installed Red Hat Linux on an external 80GB HD (new)...
Thanks for ure help in advance !!!
For this reason I am unable to provide you with the menu.lst file unless I can access it in WinXP
Distribution: windows xp home, windows 98, red hat 9, fedora core 3, redhat enterprise linux, win2000 pro/server

Rep:
allright, my recommendation is to reinstall linux and put the / partition on the internal harddrive, then make other mount points during installation for
on your external, therefore, the basic boot files would be on your internal, then putting your other files on your external, no guarantee this will work though
