grub error after installing F9
hai,
i was having dual boot (winXP & F7) in one hard disk. Later i had got new had disk and installed F9 in the second one. New grub had recognized WinXP but did not pick up F7. i could not even mount the F7 partition. error which i got was: could not mount lvm2pv partition Can some one please help in mounting F7 partion? Is there a way to make the system multi boot i.e, can i have all three OS's (XP,F7 & F9) running on my system? How can i make the grub recognize the F7 partion? |
Fedora uses lvm by default, so you need to mount the logical volume on the lvm partition. See if you can locate the logical volume under /dev/VolGroupXX/ where XX is the volume group for the LVM phyisical partition on your first disk. Once you get the F7 root partition mounted, look in boot/grub/menu.lst and use the same stanza for F7 and add it to your current menu.lst file.

hai jschiwal,
i found two volume in under /dev/VolGroupXX/ LogVol00 LogVol01 i presume that one belongs to F7 and other to F9. But i don't know the exact mapping of drives. is there a way to find out that. will the "mount" command work after i found out the correct volume of F7? sravan |
