GRUB doesn't load Windows XP
Hi, I'm very new to Linux and GRUB and I installed Debian and it loads fine, but I can't get Windows XP to load. It just says:

rootnoverify (hd0,0) chainloader +1 hd0,0 points to harddrive #0 and partition #0 which is /dev/hda1 |
I don't know if this will help, but have you taken a look at this thread?

Misinformation! You must got it somewhere.
Those lines are for booting manually at Grub prompt. It will work if the XP was originally bootable in hda1 (or sda1 for Sata) which is (hd0,0) in Grub's term, as Grub counts from 0, as teckk pointed out. If you do have a booting problem, list the content of /boot/grub/menu.lst and the response by root terminal command "fdisk -l". If XP were in hda1 then teckk's 3 lines should be spot on. Lastly while Grub can boot any system in the box it can't repair an unbootable one. |
LILO
Since you just installed it would it hurt to just re-install and use LILO instead of GRUB? I use LILO and it works absolutely perfect on every computer I've ever put Linux on.
