Grub config

I wasnt to sure whether to put this in the newbe or the software section, but since im new to linux here it is (move it if need be).

the problem i'm having is that i had windows xp installed on my hard drive that was set to master, i got a new hard drive and put it in as slave and put Fedora Core 4 on it and couldn't get it working, so i took the xp drive out and put my new hard drive as the master to install fedora and it worked first time. I then put my my windows hard drive in as slave, so xp is installed on one hard drive set as slave, and linux is on the master hard drive.

Now my problem is that i have to keep going into the bios to change which hard drive to boot from, and xp cant see linux because of the file system, and linux cant see xp which i thought that it could. I have tried modifying the grub.conf and putting all sorts in there but nothing seems to work, so is it possible to set grub to boot both since i didnt have the 2 hard drives in when i installed linux or not. any help as to how i can do this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Check google for a grub howto or something.

I'm pretty sure you can make grub boot either and it probably looks something like this:

title Windows
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
hide (hd0,0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader +1
This seems to assume that windows is the primary slave and linux is the primary master.

It works, thanks, and i managed to get my xp drive mounted under linux, i was typing:

mount dev/hdb2 /media/hdb rather than mount /dev/hdb2 /media/hdb

so i thought that linux couldn't see xp but it was just me not typing the right thing in.

but it works, great stuff thanks a lot.
