Grub confguration file

Hi all, anyone know the meaning of each of the following lines in the grub.conf file found in /boot/grub pls? I have done a lot of googling but no much result.any responses highly appreciated.

the lines are:

default = 1
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,1) /grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title CentOS - 4 i386 (2.6.9-34.EL)
root(hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-34.EL ro root= LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.9-34.EL.img

edit: if one could point me to a site or something where i could get the meanings that'll be great.

many thanks in advance

the lines are:

# use the first entry as the default
default = 1
# wait 5 seconds before booting
# this gives you a chances to go and edit the boot command
# or choice another OS to boot from
timeout=5
# this is the image file for the boot screen
splashimage=(hd0,1) /grub/splash.xpm.gz
# this says hide the menu
hiddenmenu
# this is the description that will show up on the boot menu
title CentOS - 4 i386 (2.6.9-34.EL)
# this is where the root directory is located
root(hd0,1)
# this is the kernal command to use to load the os
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-34.EL ro root= LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.9-34.EL.img

check out the man page for grub.conf
or the grub manual at there website
