Grub.conf makes me feel like a noob! plz help


I messed up my grub file with a typo, i thought no big deal ill just press E correct it log into root and then edit the /boot/grub/grub.conf file but....... its not there! I did a search for it i cant find anything to do with grub. The Distro im using is Gentoo. does anyone know what im doing wrong?

Dunno if this will help, but in Mandrake 10 the file is /boot/grub/menu.lst, not grub conf. Maybe in Gentoo it is the same?

try looking instead for lilo.conf

found the problem i had to mount /boot
