GRUB boot menu does not appear after installation of Mint 15

I have successfully installed Mint 15 (MATE) on an hp (windows_8) AMD laptop. But after rebooting, it went straight to windows without giving me the GRUB boot menu to select Linux Mint.
Interestingly, I installed the mint 15 using the same procedure I used when installing on a Toshiba laptop (windows 7) and did not have any problems: the GRUB boot menu appears and I am able to select and boot Linux.
I therefore wonder why the same installation procedure doesn't give me the GRUB boot menu on an hp (windows_8) machine.
What might be the cause of this? How can I get around it?

The cause of this is most likely 'Secure Boot' on windows 8. When you boot, enter the BIOS by watching the boot screen to see which key you need to hit to enter the BIOS. Disable secure boot and if you also have an option to enable Legacy Boot, enable it. On my HP the key you need is the F10, just watch the screen on boot.

Thank you very much. Anyway, I have tried doing that but the secure boot option cannot be selected for enabling/ disabling.
Besides, the secure boot option is already Disabled and Legacy Support is already enabled. Is there any meaning to this? How can I select the secure boot option?
