Grub

Hi,

I have two harddisks in my PC, with thge following OS:

1) Windows 2000 and Fedora Core
2) Mandrake 9.2.

When I disconnect the second harddisk, I can select (though GRUB bootloader) between Windows and Fedora.
When I disconnect the first hard disk, I can select Mandrake 9.2
When both harddrives are connected, I see the bootloader to select between Windows and Fedora (because that's the primar hard disk), but cannot choose Mandrake from that bootloader.

I would like to have Mandrake in that bootloader. Any ideas how to do this? I cannot find back the GRUB bootloader in Mandrake. I also do not know the "name" of my second harddisk (how can I know whether it is hd a, hde, sda, sde, ...)

Currently this is my bootloader:

default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,1)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Fedora Core
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2115.nptlsmp ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi rhgb
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.22-1.2115.nptlsmp.img
title Windows 2000
rootnoverify (hd0,3)
chainloader +1

Any help would be appreciated.

try put something like this in your Fedora grub.conf:

Unfortunately this doesn't work. I see Mandrake in the bootloader menu. When selecting it, it does not start Mandrake. It returns back to the bootloader menu.

Any other ideas?

Copy over the Fedora Core entry, and then fill in the correct information for Mandrake.

Or try this one, this is pretty stupid but it'll probably work
Code:
title Mandrake
rootnoverify (hd1)
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader +1

Hi,
This may be a stupid and irrelevant reply. I am newbie so I guess I can afford to be stupid. I suppose your hard drives are master/slave configuration. If they are you might want to try cable select mode. I think whenever you start your harddrive with win & FC (I suppose your master drive) it loads the grub on master and doesnt go to the slave. When you disconnnect your master drive your slave might be recognised.

I dont know if this is appropriate or applies to your system. But you can check...
