group user not able to access file

Hi,

Though user "ankit" was a part of group "initiators", still he is not able to access the file /home/arun/aquota.user. Kindly suggest is there any other methods to access the same.

[root@server ~]# ls -l /home/arun/aquota.user
-rwxrwx---. 1 divya initiators 7168 Mar 1 01:50 /home/arun/aquota.user
[root@server ~]#

[root@server ~]# tail -2 /etc/group
initiators:x:507:ankit,divya,Testbed
pavan:x:508:

[ankit@server root]$ id
uid=505(ankit) gid=506(ankit) groups=506(ankit),507(initiators) context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023

[root@server ~]# su ankit -c "ls -l /home/arun/aquota.user"
ls: cannot access /home/arun/aquota.user: Permission denied
[root@server ~]#

Check the permissions on the /home/arun directory, you may find that ankit does not have read access to the folder, which would prevent any action on the file even if the permissions on the file are set correctly.

Also, have you logged out and back in after adding ankit to the initiators group?
