I've searched here and google but not found my answers. I can go to musicbraiz and look up a CD but certain CDs in my collection, when I try to rip them, even though the album can be found on the musicbrainz website directly, won't be retrieved by grip and says "unknown album." These are not really obscure albums, either. It just happened with Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral. But then after a couple minutes, it suddenly found the track info and started ripping. What could be causing this communication error/delay?
grip's config for discdb looks like this:
primary:
freedb.musicbrainz.org
~cddb/cddb.cgi
freedb-submit@freedb.org
UTF-8
with freedb.freedb.org as secondary (other settings the same)
There should be a way to enter the album info directly into grip and have it submitted to musicbrainz and freedb.org-- just a suggestion of what you can send me for christmas
Also, kaudiocreator keeps opening up automatically when I insert a CD into the drive and since I switched to grip (because I think kaudiocreater was freezing things up), how can I change the file associations? I go into "Configure Your Computer" and under audio CD it lists a program that I've never heard of which doesn't open when I insert an audio CD. No mention is made there of kaudiocreator, which does open automatically. What gives? Is this something I can change manually in some sort of config file? Where can I learn how to do this?
P.S.-- Curious minds like to know: why would grip rip and encode my CDs much faster than kaudioplayer?
Thanks
