graphical server configuration help

ok help i am trying to install mandrake 8.1 and the graphical sever config is giving me lots o penguins and a box that says is this correct type y or n , ia put yes alt time and got double eveything,ie mouse ,screen etc. help i tried to change all,like moniter,rez,and graphic card but nothing worked to change it

I installed Mandrake 8.1 and I had the same steps. I picked the resolution, video card, monitor, etc. The screen with penguins is there for testing to see if all the video output devices work. Look over the device information and if that looks o.k. to you, click on o.k. to end the installation. The computer will then eject the CD and reboot.

You need to know all the parts you have in your computer before installing LINUX. The installation will be hard if you don't know what you have.

Be more specific on your problems so that more experience LINUX users can help.
