GParted is right?
 

I've been using GParted for first time , i need to format a partition , and i selected it an started format in ext3 filesys . But its still in pending list , will it take more than 15 min or had i done any mistake , i havent perform any operation than this !!!!

Just to be clear on this, did you actually commit the changes using the "apply" option in the edit menu?
