Got Segmentation Fault - Where do I find explantions of messages?

I got the message Segmentation Fault. I know that means I wrote beyond my array and beyond my shell(i guess). What I would like to know is when a message like that appears in a terminal window where do I find the message defined? I tried man segmentation fault without luck. What am I missing. Thank you. Alvin...

UBUNTU----I don't care about segmentation fault. What I want to know is where do I find a dictionary to explain the messages I get while in a shell terminal window?

Copy paste your error messages in Google search. Somebody may have experienced it already and have provided solutions.
