Got a black screen after installing Salix OS Ratpoison (Slackware)

Just for fun, I just finished installing Salix OS Ratpoison Linux on one of my PC's and now when I log-in, I get a black screen with the following prompt: scott@Scott:~$
At the end of the dollar sign is a blinking cursor waiting for a command. My question is this; is this the Ratpoison screen or is this just a Slackware console screen? What should I do next?

A confused Newbie. =)

Thank you

Did you read the Release Notes?

A word of warning: this is not your average newbie-friendly distribution. There is no graphical login screen, when you login, you enter the linux terminal. You are expected to run "startx" to start ratpoison itself. Even then, it is not much more newbie-friendly than the linux terminal. You'll have to use keyboard combinations to do anything.

Ahh, yes. I typed in "startx" and that brought up Salix graphical wallpaper. Now I think I'm in the Ratpoison default desktop. Yes, I knew it was a newbie unfriendly distro to try but I wanted to try it anyway because I'd like to see how far I can get operating my computer without a mouse.

I like Salix Ratpoison a lot, and the documentation (release notes, Startup Guide, etc) is very good. Enjoy! :)
