Good News Bad News (internet trouble)
Good news, I successfully dual booted with linux xubuntu and windows 7, but the bad news is I have no internet on windows 7.
How would I be able to fix it to where I have internet on both? Im typing this on my laptop because my main pc has no internet. I will be really thankful to whoever can help me out. |
so you do have internet on xubuntu?

Definitely have internet on xubuntu. |
Boot into windows and use windows diagnostic tools to check your wifi connection. The dual booted linux system will not affect wifi settings in windows, you'll have to fix the problem from within windows.

I have the same problem on my laptop. Luckily for me I use linux a lot more then windows. It seems something is locking the interface but I'm not sure if it is the laptop or the wireless router. My money is on the laptop but to date I haven't been able to get to the bottom of it. If I wait a few hours then I can boot into the other OS and the network works again but switching back requires that I wait once again for what ever is holding it to timeout.

Have you installed network drivers on the windows side for the interface you're trying to use? |
Can you open a command prompt on Windows and run the ipconfig /all command? Make sure all of the information is accurate and you aren't getting an address from APIPA. Also, can you try to ping your laptop? If it is wired, Have you checked the cables on the computer to make sure everything is plugged in? Try a different cable as well. Any other information you can give us would help find the problem.

I thought this was a LINUX help line ...
but yeah have windows take a look at it, could be your drivers for your wifi card. Windows has a "fix me" program for that built in to the system. |

OP: if you let the laptop sit for half a day and then start windows does it work? If it does and you boot back into linux does linux have issues connecting?
|
I found a driver online that fixed my problem!
|
What driver for which operating system?
|
I had to download a wifi driver for windows 7. It wasn't as easy to figure out because I didn't know exactly what my motherboard was until recently.
PS: Sorry for making this thread seem so windows oriented, I originally only had internet on linux and was trying to get internet on both. |
